Samantha and Will’s Santa Barbara elopement felt so simple in the best way, just the two of them. No guests, no pressure, just space to be together. I was the only one there with them, and it felt really special to witness something that personal from beginning to end.
We started the morning at San Ysidro Ranch, tucked away in the hills. It’s one of those places that always feels calm the second you arrive. The pace of the morning matched that. Slow, quiet, no pressure.
Hair and makeup by Marla’s Team and florals by Aivy Floral came together in such a natural way. At one point, they were just sitting together having breakfast, and I was there photographing it. It sounds kind of silly, but it’s also everything. Those small, real moments are what make the day feel whole.
We stayed at the ranch for their first look and private vows. Just the two of them, fully present, no distractions.
After that, we headed to the Santa Barbara County Courthouse for their ceremony. This part of their day felt light and effortless. Soft clouds, no rush, no distractions.
I always try to give couples space during moments like this. I’m there, but not interrupting. Right after the ceremony, they were so happy, just holding onto each other and laughing. That kind of energy is something you can’t plan.
Later in the day, we met back at San Ysidro Ranch. The light changed and the sky turned really beautiful. One of my favorite parts of the ranch is the lavender field, and photos there always feel really special.
Samantha changed into a shorter dress, which felt perfect for the afternoon. Effortless and fun. Will also changed, mixing patterns and tones in a way that felt modern but still very natural.
We ended this beautiful elopement at Butterfly Beach in Montecito. It was one of those evenings where everything just works. Warm light, soft air, barely anyone around. Weekday elopements here make such a difference.
The way Will looks at Samantha is something I won’t forget. It’s quiet, but strong. And when she looks back at him, you can see everything in her eyes.
This day had space for everything. The calm, the excitement, the in-between moments that usually get rushed. I feel really lucky I got to be there to see it all unfold.
These photos are a mix of digital and film.
If you’re thinking about eloping in Santa Barbara and want a day that feels like this, slow, intentional, and fully yours, I’d love to be there with you.
