Being a part of Alexa and Riley’s elegant wedding at Pismo beach was an absolute joy! As a Santa Barbara wedding photographer, one of my favorite things to do is capture candid moments that truly tell the story of the couple’s day. I hunt for the moments that show the raw emotions and feelings of the couple, their family, and their friends. It’s how I make meaningful and special memories.

I first met Alexa when she was a bridesmaid while I worked at a wedding in October of 2021. We hit it off, and when she got engaged, she reached out to me immediately to see if I could capture her big day too! It felt like a reunion when I arrived at their wedding since I already knew a few of their guests, including some bridesmaids and even the bride from the previous wedding where I met Alexa. It was so much fun to see familiar faces and catch up with old friends, making my job much easier!

From the moment I arrived, I could feel the energy and excitement in the air! The wedding day itself was ideal. Alexa and her family planned the whole thing in just a few months, but you would never know it – everything was so beautiful and well done. Furthermore, the celebration was the epitome of a DIY wedding as Alli took matters into her own hands and crafted everything herself. She even did her own bouquet!

Alli’s mother was also amazing! She made my husband and me a cake as a gift since our wedding anniversary was just two days before the wedding. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made me feel warm inside! It was such a surprise that she remembered, so sweet!

As the day progressed, I had the privilege of witnessing Alexa and Riley as they saw each other for the first time, exchanged vows, and danced the night away with their loved ones. 

One of the things I love most about being a Santa Barbara wedding photographer is the ability to capture authentic emotions. I love the small moments that often go unnoticed, like a bride’s mother wiping a tear from her eye during the ceremony, or a groom’s father laughing with his friends during the reception. These moments genuinely tell the story and are often cherished by couples.

Throughout the day, I felt the joy and happiness of the couple and their loved ones. It was a beautiful day filled with love and laughter. And it was an honor to capture all of these candid moments for Alexa and Riley to treasure for years to come.
